It’s an unusual book and Harriet is a wonderful anti-hero; even during her arrogant and misguided moments you find yourself completely onside willing her to overcome the various obstacles she faces. I defy anyone not to have a favourite Harriet Rose meditation by the end of the book"

The book reminded me a little of Adrian Mole, but Harriet leads a much more privileged lifestyle than him, even though she doesn't seem to be aware of how lucky she is.
